NFL: Bills vs. Jets preview

There is less than a week until the first Sunday of the NFL season. Opening weekend will feature a slew of games, including a cross state battle featuring the Bills and Jets. NFL odds are favoring the New York Jets at home by -3, even though New York has found the end zone only once in four preseason games. Will New York turn into a new team in Week 1?
The Jets finally found the end zone in Week 4 of the preseason against the Eagles. The only problem is, neither Mark Sanchez or Tim Tebow was throwing it. The TD came from a 6-yard pass from Greg McEliroy to Terrance Ganaway in the second quarter. New York still lost the game 28-10.
This game is dangerous for the Jets. Let’s be honest, New York hasn’t exactly looked like a playoff team so far. Of course, it was just the preseason. I wouldn’t be surprised if Rex Ryan is just holding onto to most of his tricks in the bag.
Some recent news out of Jets camp is that Tim Tebow could be used as the team’s up-back on special teams on fourth down. There is no better fake punt option than him on the Jets’ roster, so I could see it happening. Considering that Tebow probably hasn’t played special teams since his middle school days, it might take a little while to get things in place. However, Tebow would serve very nice as a punt protector, and fake distraction.

The Jets will have to improve on offense if they want to beat Buffalo in Week 1. However, the Bills haven’t exactly been looking awesome either. This game could see the best or worst of both teams.
