NBA Postseason Betting, More Action than the Regular Season?

By SportsbookReview.com

The NBA Finals is a more than a reason to bet on basketball. As the season goes on, bettors and fans alike watch their teams fight for the title of being the best team in the NBA despite of what the sportsbook oddsmakers say.

The sportsbook industry knows there’s the first part of the season where teams are trying to find themselves and the bettors look for the best line available every night. Then, there’s the second part where the teams perform the best they can in their games in order to get to the postseason, and then the playoffs and finals where basketball betting is taken to another level.

A sharp bettor, who knows what he’s betting on, will bet the whole season; watch the games during the season and analyze every movement of each team. When he bets on the finals, he has analyzed and knows what will be the best betting choices are and who has the better NBA odds for each team.

The best choice on the type of line may vary. According to experts there are some strategies that have been taken in consideration. Bettors tend to bet on the losing team because is more likely that they will bounce back on the next game. They also tend to bet on the totals of the game because it’s easier to predict how many points each team will score than predicting which team will win or lose or cover the spread.

A casual bettor, the one who chooses the team everyone chooses, will bet on the finals because is the only game he is watching since a regular game of the season doesn’t have the same importance (for them). He will usually take the favorite team regardless of the odds.

The teams are another reason that influences the fact that people bet more on the finals. The big market teams (LA Lakers, Boston Celtics, NY Knicks and Miami Heat) tend to be teams of bigger cities and greater population, meaning there will be more fans interested on the games.

The usual thing to happen is that at least one of the big market teams gets to the finals. The influence of these teams on their fans is amazing and makes them to want to watch and bet on the game regardless if they are sports bettors or not.

So definitely, people do tend to bet more on the finals. The sharp bettors, because they have taken the time to analyze the whole season and finally gather the essential information to bet on the most attractive part and the casual bettors that wait until this moment to make a bet to support their teams.
