The Texans lost out on a deep postseason run last year, as they could not make up for all the injuries to key players throughout the season. They lost Arian Foster for multiple games, and they didn’t have their other two top offensive threats in the playoffs, or down the stretch. Where do we see the Texans finishing with our free NFL picks?
Despite losing three of their main players for the playoffs, the Texans still made it to the postseason, and beat the Bengals in the wildcard round. However, the Texans could not overcome their lack of players in the next round against the powerful Ravens.
This season, if their wealth of offensive talent can remain healthy, the Texans are almost a lock to win the AFC South. Houston has one of the best ground games in the NFL, and with Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson back in the mix, this team will challenge anyone in the AFC for a chance to go to the Super Bowl.
The Texans drafted Illinois defensive end Whitney Mercilus with the 26th overall pick in the draft. He should begin to try and replace one of the best to play that position in Mario Williams, who left via free agency to the Bills. Mercilus is like Williams, as he is a hybrid defensive end and linebacker, and while he almost surely won’t live up to the talent of Williams, he will help fill the void on that side of the defense.

I expect the Texans to be a powerful club this season, and their Super Bowl Odds affirm that. They are second just to the Patriots to win the AFC, and they are only behind New England, the Packers, Eagles and 49ers in the Super Bowl future odds.
