This Twinkle Toes Shows off his Quick Step

After week 1 in "Dancing with the D list Stars" Emmitt Smith went from underdog to one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl of celebrity dancing. Not a big deal you think? For someone as competitive as Emmitt I'm sure winning would at least rank higher than winning a preseason game. Does he not have the look (above) of someone who knows he's the shit?

His challenge this week was to learn the quick step. The difficulty was in the framing, as Emmitt said. The body needs to be very upright and and stay high. As a running back, he's use to lowering his shoulder and running through holes. He did that really well I think.

He came out in a tuxedo and she came out in something pink. The quick step leaves little room for freestyle like the cha cha did last week. To me it looked like just more what I would imagine ballroom dancing to be like but with quicker steps. But he did get some love from the audience during the performace.

Next they went to the judges…

Bruno said that Emmitt has a natural "license to thrill" but needs some ballet lessons. (??)
Carrie Ann Inaba wants to call him "twinkle toes". Better than being called a Twinkie.
Len Goodman said "Not as good as your cha cha but still good."

So last week he surprised them away with his ability. This time they knew he was a good dancer so he had to do a lot more to wow them. Though he didn't, he did enough to satisfy them.

Emmitt and his partner Cheryl finish up tied for 4th. Emmitt is safe to make it to the next week and honestly I still think he'll make it to the top 3. I'm even willing to put a wager on Emmitt to win it all.
