The Basics of Tennis

Tennis is a fun game that many people play for leisure, but some take it very very seriously. It can be very competitive. Of course there are professional and semi levels. There are also college and Junior levels. All of the different levels get people in shape and that is good. I think that this is why we have seen a wide spread awareness for tennis in communities in the United States. You can play on a hard surface, so it can be played in the inner cities. Maybe there are children that don't like basketball and want an option, well that option should be out there for them and we can bring tennis to these children. Tennis can be seen around the world, it is played in a lot of countries. It has roots in a lot of different ancient sports, but we mainly see it starting in Brittian.

The game is fun to watch whether it be men or women. The professional circuit has many tournaments throught the year and they usually play where it's warm or indoors if not. They have 3 majors and completing winning all of these is winning the grand slam. The grand slam is something not a lot of tennis players have done. The old guard of players are from the men like Sampras, Agassi, Mcenroe, Conners, and Borge. The women have Graf, Navratilova, and they too have many others. The game has always been fun and these players made it popular. There were players making it popular before them, but these were fairly recent.

Now in the pro tennis way we have the Williams sisters, Fedrer, Djokovic and others. The simple fact is is that we have so many players that are so good we can't name them all off in this short article. The players of today grow faster and stronger than the ones in the past. You see a guy like American Andy Roddick out there, who can kill the ball, is super fast, but never seems to put it all together. You wonder if he could how good would he be? The amount of time spent working on his game I can assure you are not the reason that he hasn't won more. It may just be in his head or something. The only thing I can say is he is fun to watch.

A lot of people don't give this game a chance to watch it because they think it will be boring, but I was a skeptic once and changed my mind long ago. This game is awesome to watch. I'd love to play, but practiced for a long time and was horrible, so I don't. The game of tennis is one that is respectable and should always be considered as just as mainstream as any other sport that we may think of. We need to make sure we realize that when we start talking to other people about sports. I had a great friend in High School and her passion was tennis and I wish I would have gone to see her play, I feel I missed out on our friendship growing because of that.
