NFL Week 13: Lucky For Some and Unlucky For Others

Welcome back to the NFL Martin Gramatica. How smart does Dallas look now for cutting Vanderjagt? Besides starting Romo that might be the second most important move in Dallas. I am positive he would have missed that field goal with the game on the line. Gramatica had a chance to blow out an ACL but I think Bill Parcells said it would have been worth it.

If Tennessee could have a do over they would wish the season started seven weeks ago. They've won five out of the last seven. They just beat the Colts at home. They're playing some great football with Vince Young who looks like he did not score a 4 on his Wonderlic test. Oh and the game ended on a 60 yard field goal. Fantastic.

The Oakland Raiders do have something to play for. They are playing for the #1 pick in the NFL draft. It's a guarantee they'll screw up that player's career. No wonder Oakland is called the black hole. It certainly seemed like the Raiders were trying not to win against Houston. Oakland turned the ball over five times, missed three field goals, allowed five sacks and had only one offensive score. This is the best part. Houston finishes the game with -32 passing yards and still win. Only the Oakland Raiders can make the other team look so bad yet still lose.

In the battle of who-could-suck-worse today had Rex Grossman vs. Brad Johnson. Both combined for a ridiculous seven interceptions. Johns eventually got pulled. Rex Grossman's quarterback rating was...get this....1.3. He was 6-19 for 34 yards. Johnson shouldn't laugh cause his was 10.3. Lovie Smith is sticking with Grossman and that is like dropping a plugged in toaster into a bathtub. That's fine just let Grossman play through his mistakes. Just enjoy watching the football in January on television.

Reggie Bush finally had the day that made him look like the #1 overall pick. Too bad it took till week 13. He still does not lead all rookie running backs in touchdowns (9). That title goes to Maurice Jones Drews, who was a 2nd round draft pick and cost millions less.

If Mike Shanahan is going to start a rookie expect him to play like that in his very first game. There were not too many things Jay Cutler did right. The same can go for the entire Broncos defense who are doing everything to lose their wildcard spot. Seattle was so bad in the first half a blizzard could have hit Denver and Seattle would be buried in it because they just could not move the ball.

The best part of the night was when Shanahan called a fake field goal right before halftime. Elam got a few yards and a first down which led to another field goal attempt. Huh?? It led to a successful field goals but also a pulled hamstring for Elam. Things are really going bonkers in the high altitude.
