After a protracted standoff, the Giants and Victor Cruz recently have finally come to a deal, with Cruz signing his $2.879 million tender. Now, Cruz can at least show up to camp, after skipping the entire offseason program.
The NBA Draft may lack the NFL draft's panache but it is the most important draft in pro sports. Why? Because the NBA has collective-bargained itself into a knot; there are very few ways of adding real new talent in the league and almost no flexibility to make significant trades. So, who are the top five game-changing players in this draft?
The smiles on the faces are all the same. Age means nothing. From the little guy holding his first trophy after a season of pee-wee league baseball to the professional athlete wielding the NBA Championship Trophy over his head, the smiles say it all. Even highly paid professionals that have won trophies for most of their lives can point to one from years ago and reminisce on its meaning.
This shall be the second to the last of our series on NBA teams, and in here we take a look at the Utah Jazz, whose rather peculiar team name can be explained by the fact they started out in New Orleans in 1974. The team shall be playing its 40th season in 2013-14, and while they got left out of the playoff hunt in 2012-13, a return to the postseason shouldn't be farfetched provided the Jazz make the right moves.
With the Fantasy season over several weeks ago and with the Playoffs approaching their end in a few days, now it's the right time to have a look to the rookie players of the last season and break down their efficiency and general performance. Which of those met our expectations and proved out to be solid picks for fantasy teams? Which ones over delivered and which provided less?
For the first time in NBA history, the league maintained the same number of teams and none of these teams moved to another city in the next season. It also marked the continuation of the Minneapolis Lakers' dynasty, as the George Mikan-led team finished with the league's best record and won the NBA Championship in the postseason. Yet the NBA remained far behind in popularity to the college game; the pro game was still slow, especially in fourth quarters where teams would stall to protect their leads and new rules on fouls and free throws did little to curb excessive fouling. Indeed, it would be a couple more years before the NBA would "move into the 20th century", but for now, it was the Lakers and George Mikan's NBA, and it wasn't always exciting.
All the coverage on positional battles this offseason seems to revolve around the quarterback position – will it be Sanchez or Smith in New York, will Matt Flynn hold onto the starting job in Oakland, is EJ Manuel ready for prime time. But it turns out other positions also have battles – I know, I'm as shocked as you are. It's not always the teams at the bottom of the standings, either – even good teams are struggling in OTAs, trying to figure out who will replace key starters at key positions.
This week, the NFL mourned the passing of a true legend of the game. The first-ballot Hall of Famer, Los Angeles Ram legend – the man who came up with the word "sack" to describe his relentless pursuit of quarterbacks. Deacon Jones died in his home Monday night, from natural causes. He was 72 years old.
This is the Best Sports Blog's mock draft for 2013. Of course, it contains who the teams should pick, not who they are likely to pick. No one can predict the minds of the average NBA GM! Of course, if you want to follow along with your own mock draft then grab your promo mini marker and lets compare picks.
The King of Clay. Rafael Nadal's nickname does little justice to his perfection on the surface. At 59-1 in clay's marquee event, the French Open, Nadal is the emperor of clay. With eight titles in nine tries, he is the best clay-court champion in tennis history. 59-1 is such an absurdity, no one would ever bet it could happen – you just can't bet against Nadal. Of course, if you wanted to try, online casinos offer you the possibility to play the most attractive online casino games on the gaming market.

It's all sports and it's all here; everything you ever wanted to know, think about, and discuss about all the major issues and questions in the sports world.
The Best Sports Blog is now part of the TBSB Network. The TBSB
Network is a new group of sites intended to provide our viewers with
unique content on every major sport! The other sites in the network are:
thebestboxingblog.com, thebestfootballblog.com,

There are links to them in the drop-down navigation above so make sure
to check them out and see our great content for yourself!
We created The Best Sports Blog because, despite all the sports sites that are out there, we thought there was a major void left to fill. While ESPN, Sports Illustrated,
and others provide complete instant coverage of sports events (and
occasionally even engaging commentary) there isnt another site out there
on the net that was dedicated to providing detailed, informative, and
substantive discussions about the biggest issues in sports. Its easy to
find out if a player gets traded and possible to find some decent
commentary on the immediate effects, but we couldnt find a site
dedicated to providing sports fans with detailed analysis of the deeper
reasons behind current sports events and their medium and long term
consequences. That is the void that we want this site to fill.
The point of The Best Sports Blog
is to bring you engaging, thought-provoking, and completely unique
content on the biggest happenings, issues, and problems in sports. We
are not worried about breaking the news first; its the advanced analysis
of the events behind, and consequences of, that news that we are
concerned with. As a result, you will notice that most of our content -
even older articles - is not past due and out of touch. Thats because
our analysis is about looking at the big picture, taking on the
questions that routine commentators leave alone, and analyzing issues
from a viewpoint that is different from all the Talking Heads out there.
We are about providing our readers with unique, unvarnished, long term
analysis and that is what makes The Best Sports Blog different from any
other site on the internet. We are very proud of that so please take a
look and we are sure you will see the benefits of this new approach.
The Best Sports Blog
is also about building a new online sports community for engaged fans
who want two things: to read the best analysis out there and have an
outlet to contribute their own criticism, thoughts, and ideas. As you
will notice, we always solicit your thoughts and comments in our
articles and have comment boxes featured prominently on every page.
Theres a reason for that: we dont just want this to be a normal sports
site that you visit, read, and leave; we want it to be a community of
sports fans sharing their ideas. We are sports fans just like you;
normal fans who want to read intelligent detailed analysis and express
our own ideas at the same time. Thats why we created The Best Sports
Blog: we want to create a web-based sports community where everyone
reads our thoughts, contributes their own, and together we reach a
consensus (or happily debate forever) on the biggest questions and
issues in sports today.
Don't forget that The Best Sports Blog is
part of the TBSB Network! Our other sites can be found in the drop down
navigation at the top of the page where it says "TBSB Network."
At Australian online casinos
local players can benefit from the local customer service which offers
toll free phone numbers for players within Australia. In addition
customers can also contact the service via email and in some cases live
chat options. Some casinos also offer snail mail options as another way to bet.
As a
final note, we encourage you to join our free subscription newsletter.
You will find it on the top right hand corner of this homepage. The
newsletter will be used to provide members of The Best Sports Blog
community with article updates, special content and analysis that is
exclusive to our newsletter subscribers, and occasionally notices of
great new products and services that we think could prove very helpful
to our readers. We encourage you to sign up for it as your first step in
joining this special new online community and becoming part of
something new and unique in the sports world.
Thank You,
Paul and Mo
